STOP THE MUSIC: Rihanna Is Reportedly Planning A World Tour & No, It’s Not Like The Fake Britney
Published October 24, 2023
So much has happened since 2016. David Bowie passed away. Donald Trump became President of the United States. The Amazon forest burned and COVID-19 gripped the world. And we had to do it all without any new music from Rihanna.
It’s been a long, cold season without new tunes from RiRi and it’s safe to say the girlies have been suffering. In the seven years since she dropped her eighth studio album Anti, we’ve been left the tiniest of crumbs to satiate our need for her iconic R&B sound. Sure she’s given us some morsels by adding some featured vocals to a few tracks and jumping on the Black Panther soundtrack last year (which she received an Oscar nom for, of course) but at this point we are quite literally starving for a nutritious, juicy, full Rihanna album.
Could it be that our luck is starting to turn?
According to reports from Entertainment Tonight not only is the 35-year-old preparing to record new music but she could be embarking on an epic tour. Apparently the Grammy Award-winning singer has inked a massive deal with global entertainment company Live Nation with plans to head off on a world tour throughout 2024 and 2025. We guess she saw what Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have been up to and thought she might like to get in on that shmoney too.
Details on when we *actually* might be getting said music or firm dates for the tour are light on but at least it’s something!
This will be Rihanna’s first foray back into music after almost a decade working on various other endeavours. Firstly, she has become a mum after welcoming her sons RZA Athelston Mayers in 2022 and Riot Rose Mayers in September this year with partner A$AP Rocky.
She has also been building a beauty empire with her range of Fenty Beauty products and she recently stepped down as CEO of her Savage x Fenty lingerie line which she helped grow into one of the most celebrated and diverse companies on the market.
Oh and she also performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show while pregnant. A very good and honest slay.
So while this tea is certainly piping hot, I will sip it with caution for I fear getting burned again. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours of a big Rihanna comeback and at this point I have to protect my energy. I’ll truly believe it when I hit play and hear those sweet, sweet sounds in my ear holes. Until then we should remain on high alert.
